Mining Geology and Geological Prospection
Geological research, exploration, and extraction of mineral resources, as well as environmental quality, are an inseparable part of the development of every society. Rational mining significantly influences not only economic development but also the environmental balance of our planet. The content of the third-degree study programme Mining Geology and Geological Exploration synergistically integrates the final efforts of geoscience disciplines aimed at prospecting for, evaluating, and efficiently utilizing mineral and energy resources, as well as actively contributing to the protection and assessment of the abiotic components of the environment. PhD graduates of this study programme find irreplaceable employment at geoscience departments of universities and in research, design, and implementation institutions focused on the exploration, forecasting, and rational use of all types of mineral and energy resources, as well as on geoscientific solutions to stability conditions of underground geotechnical and tunnel structures. They will be able to competently participate in decision-making processes concerning the efficient use of Earth’s resources and integrated environmental protection at all levels of state and public administration. Graduates will also find employment in fields dealing with geoenvironmental disciplines at both the research and applied levels.
