Geological research, exploration, and extraction of mineral resources, as well as the quality of the environment, are integral components of the development of any society. Rational mining significantly influences not only economic development but also the environmental balance of our planet. The content of the third-cycle (PhD) study program Mining Geology and Geological Prospection synergistically integrates the advanced efforts of geoscience disciplines aimed at the exploration, evaluation, and efficient utilization of mineral and energy resources, as well as active engagement in the protection and assessment of the abiotic components of the environment. PhD graduates of this study program have irreplaceable employment opportunities at university departments of geosciences, in research, design, and implementation institutions focused on the exploration, forecasting, and rational utilization of all types of mineral and energy resources, as well as on geoscientific solutions to stability conditions of underground geotechnical and tunnel structures. They will be able to competently participate in decision-making processes related to the efficient use of Earth resources and integrated environmental protection at all levels of state and public administration. Graduates will also find employment in fields dealing with geoenvironmental disciplines at both research and applied levels.
