Calendar25.06. 2026

At the meeting of the International Organizing Committee of the World Mining Congress (WMC) in Lima, Peru, Slovakia achieved a remarkable success. The Slovak delegation officially presented Košice's bid to host one of the world's most prestigious mining events, the World Mining Congress 2027. The proposal received unanimous support from all member states of the WMC International Organizing Committee.

Strong recognition was expressed not only for the Slovak mining sector and the professional work of the Slovak Mining Chamber, but also for the scientific and research activities of the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies (FBERG), Technical University of Košice. The bid was met with appreciation and applause from representatives of some of the world's leading mineral-resource nations, including Australia, Canada, China, Japan, India, Peru, the member states of the European Union, and other WMC member countries.

This achievement is a significant confirmation of Slovakia's growing international reputation in mining, mineral resources, education, and research. As was aptly stated during the meeting: "We become truly world-class when others recognize us as such."
